Tips for Pregnancy Week 4

Tips:
Document your development in creative and lasting ways. Keeping a record of the ever-expanding baby bump can be a great start to a baby book. So what are the best ways to gauge your growth?

Weekly Snapshots
Take a profile picture of yourself each week. You can even use a small marker board to make a sign to hold, so that you can easily distinguish between weeks 14 and 15. This photo record will be even more dramatic if you can take shots in the same location each time. A shot framed by a doorway will give you a visual reference for just how much your waistline has changed. Don't think you can keep pace with weekly photo shoots? Once-a-month photos can work, too! There are also many convenient apps now too that make adding your weekly “bumpdate” easier than ever.

Journaling the Journey
If you prefer the written word, be sure to document all of the little landmarks of gestation in your journal. When did you have to make the switch to maternity pants? When did your belly button lose its status as an “innie”? When did your helpful partner have to take over shaving your legs? These moments may seem unforgettable, but in future years, you will treasure being able to relive these little markers.

A Ribbon to Remember
Pick up some ribbon and some small, baby-related charms at a craft store. Each week (or month) wrap the ribbon around your waist, and tie a charm at the point where it meets. As the weeks pass and the charms accumulate, you'll be left with a lovely and tangible reminder of just how far you've come.

No matter how you choose to document your changing shape on the outside, try to appreciate the amazing changes that are taking place on the inside.
